Dr. Faisal Mahmood, a Board Certified Orthopedic & Spine Surgeon, is consistently recognized as a New Jersey Top Doctor by his colleagues.
Dr. Mahmood prides himself on listening and treating each patient as an individual, allowing for a custom treatment plan that will help them return to their lifestyle with increased mobility and decreased pain. Surgery is often the last solution, as many spine and orthopedic issues can be successfully treated with conservative care. Dr. Mahmood is unique as he specializes in both Spine and Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Mahmood, a NJ native attended Johns Hopkins University where he graduate magna cum laude. At Johns Hopkins, he was actively involved in community service and research with the Johns Hopkins Medical School Department of Orthopedics. Upon graduating, he returned to New Jersey to complete his medical training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where he continued to be involved with community outreach programs and was actively involved in orthopedic research at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center/Seton Hall University, Dupont Children’s Hospital, and Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he published and presented research in his field, and graduated with distinction as Chief Resident. Pursuing additional interests in spine surgery, Dr. Mahmood completed a spine fellowship at the internationally distinguished Twin Cities Spine Center. Here, he honed his skills in minimally invasive techniques and cutting-edge technology under the guidance of the world’s top spine surgery experts. Dr. Mahmood is well-versed in a myriad of Spinal & Orthopedic conditions, including congenital degenerative spine disorders, disc herniations, hip and knee arthritis, sports-related injuries, and orthopedic trauma. He routinely performs minimally invasive spine surgery, same-day sports procedures, and robotic-assisted joint replacements. Dr. Mahmood actively attends spine & orthopedic conferences because he believes in the importance of maintaining a current knowledge base and being familiar with advancements in the field. He is a member of the North American Spine Society, NJ Orthopedic Association, and mentors orthopaedic residents.
