Description
Dr. Pizzillo specializes in shoulder surgery as well as hand and upper extremity surgery. His expertise includes arthroscopic rotator cuff and labral repairs, along with traditional open shoulder surgery. He also performs both arthroscopic and open procedures on the elbow and wrist. His practice focuses on sports injuries of the shoulder and upper extremity, addressing complex rotator cuff pathology in both active and mature patients.
His specialty training in shoulder surgery also covers the treatment of arthritic conditions of the shoulder joint, offering patients the latest options in joint replacement. Dr. Pizzillo earned his Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at New York University Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Additionally, Dr. Pizzillo holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Hand Surgery, extending his expertise from the shoulder through the elbow and down to the wrist and hand. He also holds a second Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Sports Medicine, making him one of only thirty-six physicians nationwide-and one of five in New Jersey-to hold two orthopedic subspecialty certificates (2012 ABOS data).
