Description
Born and raised in Iowa, Dr. Ryken attended Iowa State University for his undergraduate studies. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed a General Surgery Residency with the University of California – San Francisco, a Family Medicine Residency with the University of Wyoming, a surgical internship and Neurosurgery Residency at the University of Iowa College of Medicine, and a fellowship at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. For more than 25 years, Dr. Ryken worked as a professor and chief of neurosurgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. As a provider, his clinical interests include neurosurgical oncology, spine, guidelines, and outcomes. He is board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons. “I am an excellent listener and always keep an open mind.
I strive to deliver the best care individualized for each patient based on evidence-based medicine.” Dr. Ryken enjoys fly fishing, biking, hiking, and camping when not working
