Description

Andrew E. Farber, DO, FAAOS, is a member of Summit Health’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine team. Dr. Farber practices general orthopedic surgery with an emphasis on injuries and pathology involving the hand and upper extremity in children and adults.

As a fellowship-trained orthopedic hand surgeon, Dr. Farber treats a wide range of surgical and nonoperative conditions, including trauma and fractures; osteoarthritis and degenerative disorders; tendon injuries; trigger finger; nerve conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome; and Dupuytren’s contracture. He is skilled in treating conditions affecting the neck, back and lower extremities, as well. Dr. Farber works to gain a comprehensive understanding of not only his patients’ orthopedic pathology or injury impacting their function, but also their physical needs and goals. This approach enables him to provide diagnostic and treatment recommendations tailored to the individual. He believes a focus on communication and education is important in one’s course of care, and ultimately, one’s outcome. “I want my patients to feel empowered and educated so they can make the best possible decisions for their health and recovery.”

he says. “I love to see patients return to the activities they enjoy, whether sports and athletics, returning to work, or playtime with children and grandchildren.” Dr. Farber spends his free time with friends and family, enjoying activities including travel, going to the beach, cooking and baking, and running in Central Park. As a proud parent of a rescue dog, he also enjoys learning about and supporting the work of animal rescue organizations.
