Dr. Christina Steinhauser is a former Chief of Medicine and Chief of Gastroenterology at the Nellis Air Force Base, as well as a current assistant professor for the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and a former assistant professor University of Nevada at Las Vegas. As an active-duty physician in the US Air Force for 11 years before joining United Medical Doctors, she was awarded multiple meritorious awards, including a joint Army-Navy service award and an Army commendation medal while being deployed in Germany.

As a well-respected mentor, teacher and clinician, she was named Teaching Faculty of the Year by the Family Medicine residency at Nellis Air Force Base in 2024. She continues as active faculty at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and has continued to contribute nationally to the education of gastroenterologists in the United States by serving on the American College of Gastroenterology’s Education Universe Editorial Board for the past 7 years.

She also offers in-office procedures for management of chronic abdominal pain, including trigger point abdominal wall injections and utilizes Battlefield acupuncture technique (small needles placed on the ear for pain management). She values innovation and academics in the field and has had numerous posters presented at the American College of Gastroenterology, including an award for outstanding poster presentation award and has contributed to several publications.

Dr. Steinhauser is originally from Southern California and is proud to represent her community’s expanding access to care as one of a small number of Latina Gastroenterologists practicing in the US. She believes that patients should feel supported at all stages, and as a native Spanish speaker, she can offer appointments in both Spanish and English
