For nearly 20 years, Dr. Varlotta has provided patients with highly effective, multidisciplinary treatment of orthopedic injuries and conditions. His practice philosophy is that many spinal injuries and chronic pain conditions can be safely, effectively, and permanently treated without the expense and risks of major back surgery. This integrative approach focuses not only on addressing existing symptoms but also on developing programs to train and heal the body to prevent future injury. In all cases, the ultimate goal is long-term pain relief and restoration of optimal physical performance. Dr. Varlotta has treated everyone from professional athletes to elderly patients dealing with chronic pain or slip-and-fall injuries. An extensive publisher, presenter, and course director, Dr. Varlotta is active as a sports medicine physician. He serves as Rehabilitation Consultant to the NY Islanders and New Jersey Nets, Medical Captain of the NYC Marathon, and was on the medical team for the 1996 and 2002 Olympics and Paralympics. He is a member of the 2012 NYC Olympic Committee and has served as Team Physician for the NJ Red Dogs Arena Football Team, NJ Rockin Rollers, and Long Island Jaws In-line Hockey team. He is also Co-Director of the Millrose Track and Field Games. An avid sports enthusiast, Dr. Varlotta is Medical Director for the NY Chapter of the Special Olympics, Consultant to S & F Football Agency, Team Physician for SUNY Purchase, and a Ringside Physician for the NY State Athletic Commission for Boxing. Dr. Varlotta earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York Institute of Technology, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his internship in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Coney Island Hospital. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Colgate University.
