Lisa K. O’Brien, DO is an Orthopedic Surgeon with Coordinated Health, part of Lehigh Valley Health Network. She is fellowship-trained in both orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. Dr. O’Brien graduated summa cum laude and valedictorian from Slippery Rock University, where she double-majored in exercise physiology and dance. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She subsequently completed her residency in orthopedic surgery at UPMC Pinnacle in Harrisburg where she covered various high school athletic events. Following residency, she completed a fellowship in orthopedic surgery sports medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Health, which had a strong focus on complex sports medicine surgery as well as shoulder arthroplasty. During her time at Wake Forest, she was a Team Physician for Wake Forest University Athletics, Winston Salem State University Athletics, and the University North Carolina School of the Arts. Dr. O’Brien offers a full spectrum of orthopedic and sports medicine care to her patients, including the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. Her surgical focus includes arthroscopic and open restorative procedures of the knee and shoulder, hip arthroscopy, general fracture care, and total knee and shoulder replacement. She also has a special interest in dance medicine, osteoporosis, and bone health. As a former dancer and fitness instructor, Dr. O’Brien says she can relate to her patients. “I want to work with my patients to help them reach their goals and get back to doing what they love,” she says. Aside from medicine, Dr. O’Brien enjoys spending time outdoors, running, hiking, and yoga.
