Dr. Minnie John, MD, FAAP, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College and the Attending Pediatric Infectious Disease physician at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Dr. John is board certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Disease, with over 25 years of experience in pediatrics. She is a member of the AAP and IDSA. Dr. John graduated from Christian Medical College, Vellore, India, earning her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. She has always been interested in Pediatrics and Infectious Disease. Shortly after finishing medical school, Dr. John had the opportunity to be part of the landmark 076 AIDS clinical trial that demonstrated how a single drug could change the face of global pediatric HIV. This work reaffirmed her decision to pursue a career in Pediatric Infectious Disease. She completed her residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Disease at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. John enjoys working with children and following them into adulthood. Her practice is based on compassionate, high-quality, patient-focused, family-centered care grounded in evidence-based medicine. Her passion lies in solving complicated medical conundrums. Her areas of expertise include congenital infections (especially congenital CMV and herpes infections), bone and joint infections, skin and soft tissue infections, pneumonia, fever of unknown origin, HIV, tuberculosis, and travel medicine. Dr. John recently received an NIH grant to manage congenitally infected CMV newborns, with NYP Brooklyn Methodist Hospital designated as one of the Wadsworth Center Infectious Disease Specialty Care Centers.
