Dr. Shiv Raj is an Interventional Cardiologist with extensive training that has shaped his expertise in cardiovascular medicine. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine and completed his internship at Maimonides Medical Center. He then pursued the majority of his training-including Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology-at Maimonides Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Fellow. This foundational experience provided him with a solid understanding of cardiovascular care. To further expand his skillset, Dr. Raj completed two additional sub-specialty fellowships. He first trained in Cardiothoracic Critical Care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital ? Harvard Medical School, focusing on managing complex post-surgical patients, including those requiring mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, and cardiac or multi-organ transplants. He then honed his expertise through a fellowship in Structural Heart and Adult Congenital Heart Interventions at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical Center. This advanced training involved performing transcatheter interventions for aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve disorders, as well as septal closure procedures (such as ASD and PFO) and left atrial appendage interventions. Additionally, he gained proficiency in cardiac computed tomography (CT) analysis, an essential tool for evaluating and planning complex cardiovascular procedures.
