Description
Hi there, I’m Harold! Hello,
I’m Dr. Harold Thomas Jr. Ames IV, a licensed clinical psychologist in California, Texas, and Hawaii, with additional certification as an Industrial/Organizational psychologist. I take a comprehensive approach to therapy, integrating evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and trauma-informed care while drawing on my extensive experience treating adjustment issues, chronic mental health conditions, and co-occurring disorders. My practice focuses on providing individualized treatment through a culturally sensitive lens, with particular expertise in crisis intervention, behavioural health, and workplace psychology. My approach My therapeutic approach is integrative and evidence-based, drawing primarily from cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and humanistic psychology frameworks. I believe in tailoring treatment to each individual’s unique needs while maintaining a trauma-informed and recovery-based perspective.
I often utilize motivational interviewing techniques alongside CBT and DBT skills to help clients identify and work toward their goals. My background in existential and humanistic psychology also informs my practice, allowing me to address both immediate symptoms and deeper questions of meaning and purpose that often arise in therapy. My work is particularly influenced by my experience in crisis intervention and treating co-occurring disorders. I emphasize a multisystemic approach that considers how various aspects of a person’s life – family, work, and community – interact to affect their mental health. This comprehensive perspective allows me to help clients develop practical coping strategies while building deeper insight into their patterns and relationships. Having worked extensively in both clinical and organizational settings, I also bring an understanding of how workplace dynamics and life-work balance impact mental health.
