Description

Hannah Drummond, LPCC Hannah Drummond holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UC Santa Cruz and a Master of Science in Early Childhood Mental Health and Counselling from San Diego State University. In addition, she received an Early Childhood Socio-Emotional and Behavioural Intervention Specialist (EC-SEBRIS) graduate certificate, also from San Diego State University. Drummond uses a trauma-informed, attachment-based, and person-centred approach in all of her sessions. She believes in the importance of building a strong and collaborative therapeutic relationship between client and therapist; her clients are the experts of their lives and she empowers them to practice the skills to unlock what is already within them. She has always been deeply interested in social justice and how humans use the power of human connection to elicit positive change. She was determined to figure out a way to channel her passion into her work and was ultimately drawn to the mental health field because it is all about relationships and connection. Drummond grew up in a small town in Saitama, Japan, and moved to California when she was seven years old. She comes from an interracial family: her father is from the U.S., and her mother is from Japan. Her own bi-racial experience greatly impacted the way she saw herself and the world. While she does not conduct full sessions in Japanese, she is happy to provide therapy/play therapy to English and Japanese bilingual clients or to young children who prefer speaking Japanese. She learns so much from her clients and continues to be inspired by their insights, motivation, and resilience. She also has the privilege to use the therapeutic space for healing on an individual level as well as a community level: leading to social change around destigmatizing mental health, challenging oppressive powers, as well as how we connect and understand those around us. During her free time, she can be found taking a hot yoga class, at a cafe, taking
