Description
Hello, my name is Jecksenia Chaparro. Since 2014, I have worked in the field of addiction and with co-occurring mental health symptoms. I have experience working in detox, inpatient, outpatient settings, partial hospitalization and private therapy. I have worked with adults, families, couples and groups who have been impacted by the disease of addiction and mental health symptoms. I decided to further my education by working towards a master’s degree in social work, and I currently hold LCADC and LSW licenses. I utilize a variety of counselling strategies specific to the client’s needs, which may include Psychoeducation, Solution-Focused approach, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, along with other evidence-based interventions. I tend to lean towards a person-centred therapeutic approach as this seems to help build a solid foundation within a professional relationship. I feel that this is how trust is gained, where people can feel heard and understood. I believe providing a safe and non-judgmental therapeutic environment is essentia,l and I am passionate about working in this field while providing hope and empowerment to those who are working towards establishing stability when entering a recovery lifestyle or with mental health symptoms
