Description
I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective therapy for individuals, couples, and families in the office and via telehealth. I am a licensed psychotherapist with over twenty-five years of experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families who may be struggling with trauma, substance abuse, relationship stressors, communication issues, anxiety, depression, or general life stressors. I have advanced training in substance abuse counseling and have spent over fourteen years working for Turning Point, an in-patient drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Essex County, where I worked with clients before they were healthy enough to return to their homes and families. It was through this work that I realized the importance of also focusing on the family members and the family system within which the individual suffering from mental illness is situated. These family members are often not as aware as they could be of the complicated behaviors and needs of individuals dealing with both substance abuse and mental health issues. I became certified as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor to better enable myself to focus on this vital work. It is the nature of a family that its members are intensely connected emotionally. I have also completed two multi-year training programs on internal family systems (Bowen Family Systems) and multicultural families (Multicultural Family Institute). For the last 12 years, I have been in private practice, offering individual, couples, and family therapy. I provide an individualized, holistic approach based on each client’s unique needs. I strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where clients feel safe sharing their inner experiences, making contact with deeper parts of themselves, and confronting the challenges they want to overcome. How you view yourself, your relationship with others, and the world, is a starting point for our therapeutic experience working together.
